Google announced its plan to roll out the Local Events Save option in Google earlier this year in July 26, 2018. This option would allow you to search events near you and save it so that you can plan and share with others easily. They’ve also redesigned and introduced a new way to look for events earlier in May 10, 2018. If you want to look for some events or functions nearby, you can just go to the Google App and search for “Events near me” or “Festivals near me”. It’s a great chance for Event Organisers to ensure that their events are delivered more often and in a better position in Google. With Google bringing up the Save Option and view more option for events directly in Google, it’s time for organisers to ensure that they take advantage of Google events schema. As Google says here, “Mark up your organized events so that users can discover events through Google Search results and other Google products like Google Maps”, you’ll have to ensure that you have marked your events structure with the schema markup or structured data. You can mark your events with either JSON or by Data Highlighting from Google Webmaster. A full tutorial for Event markup will be available on our blog soon.
